Nineteen of the Russian's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging year, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial title following the Rome competition and initial on a hard court since that period of that year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has won 21 championships at 21 various tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in that event previously this season.

His retrieving play style and recurring reactions on the playing surface had led commentators to question if his ability to perform at the highest level was finished.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, reinforced by an improved serve.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players swapped break points in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden tour victory, seized the initiative to create a decider.

He defended four initial break points in a close final set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he clinched the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to control a shot after a lengthy match.
